Supporting Cross-border Students,

6-7 June 2024

Identify strategies that assist University staff with responding effectively to the unique needs of cross-border learners.

Cross-border students, a growing cohort that encompasses international learners, new settlers, refugee-background learners, and third culture students, represent a significant proportion of the University of Auckland’s student body with specific needs that must be understood by frontline staff.

Within the 2-day training programme is the intent to examine the unique needs of cross-border learners, establish more clearly defined roles, develop tailored support, improve referral pathways and facilitate a more systemised whole-of-provider approach. This training is not only to highlight the unique needs of cross-border learners, but also to identity strategies that facilitate a more integrated, joined-up approach to supporting a diverse student body.
